Newtalk新聞 保守派美國前副總統錢尼(Dick Cheney)3日辭世,享壽84歲,家屬透露死因為肺炎和心血管疾病併發症。積極任事著稱的錢尼是美國「反恐戰爭」主要策畫者、2003年美國入侵伊拉克的推手之一。堪稱美國現代史上最具有實權,但也最受爭議的副總統之一。 綜合美國有線電視新聞網(CNN)、財經媒體CNBC、美聯社及中央社報導,家屬表示,錢尼離世時「結縭61年的摯愛妻子琳恩(Lynne)、女兒麗茲(Liz)及瑪麗(Mary)和其他家人都陪在他身旁。」並強調:「錢尼是一個偉大而善良的人,教導子孫熱愛我們的國家,並帶著勇氣、光榮、愛、仁慈及熱愛飛蠅釣的心過生活。」 家屬說:「我們無比感激錢尼為我國所做的一切,也非常幸運能愛他,並被這位高尚的偉人愛護。」老成穩重且強勢的錢尼擔任前美國總統老布希(George H. W. Bush)的國防部長,在波斯灣戰爭期間指揮美軍;之後又在2001至2009年擔任兩屆美國副總統,是時任共和黨籍總統小布希(George W.
